I have a 20 year old Craftsman circular saw. It works fine. It has a safety switch which must be depressed by the thumb before the trigger will engage. This is a VERY IMPORTANT safety feature. When you carry the saw around, you cannot accidental depress the trigger and start the saw. The new saw does not have this safety feature. The area on the handle reserved for the safety switch is now occupied by the laser switch. A VERY BAD trade off. Also, when I made a cut and set the saw down on the concrete garage saw, the guard STUCK in an open position and now I have a gouge in my floor. Everyone who is experienced with power tools recognizes that the circular saw is the most dangerous of all powered hand tools. There is simply no way to be too careful with these saws. They will take your fingers or cut your leg half way through in an instant.. This tool was obviously designed by someone who had no knowledge of these saws This is a dangerous product and will be going back to the store.

My old Craftsman circular saw burned up and I needed a new one. I went to the store figuring I would have to spend about $100, and ended up very suprised with the price on this one. I got a more powerful saw than I had before and it made the cuts so smoothly and easily that I was not sure it was cutting all the way through the boads. The laser guide worked excellent, I am legally blind and I was able to see the laser in order to follow my cut lines perfectly. I expected it to be pretty heavy, but the weight was very balanced and easy to handle. Excellent Tool Craftsman keep up the good work.

LED is a bonus in dim lighting conditions. Lever for depth adjustment is a good size to use with gloves. Should have a rip guide included with the saw. Laser is a guide only it does not prevent wandering of line.

Hesitantly bought this saw because of the sale price, I am partial to Milwaukee and Makita. Needed a saw that can cut plywood, rough framing, and in a pinch trim. I needed durability, cutting power, and accuracy, and this saw has it all. The guide is very true, and the saw makes straight clean cuts every time. I am a contractor, and this saw is always with me on the job site. The motor definitely puts out the power to zip 2x4s as quick as I need them, and rarely gets bogged down. I have yet to use the laser sight, I trust myself and my lines more than a light, that just came with the saw. Great for the DIYer The blade depth is very easily adjustable, however the lever for this can sit below the guide making long thru cuts a pain when blade is set deep. This is reason for 4 stars and not 5. Note: My dad bought a craftsman circular saw (similar model, obviously without laser sight) in 1979 for the same price I paid for it in 2012, and his still works great.

Our DeWalt circular saw developed a problem with the bolt which holds the blade in place, so that the blade cannot be removed. So we went to Sears looking for a new saw. This one works great, handles easily, and was affordable. We are happy with our choice, and I would like to add that Dewalt is not always a better brand.
