Sears sent me this one-handed reciprocating saw back when the snow was still on the ground and to be honest I just don't have much of a need for a reciprocating saw. My corded one has been out of the bag maybe three times in the last five years.
But yesterday I got around to fixing a small platform (deck) at the back of our property. This platform sits under a huge elm tree and it makes a nice quiet seating area to just enjoy the wildlife. Last fall I added a 4 foot by 8 foot section of used deck to my small platform and I just needed to fill in and trim a couple of missing boards.
Now, I never use my corded reciprocating saw because (one) it's too noisy, (two) it's too heavy, (three) the blade fits in upside down from what I think it should be, (four) it is full speed or nothing. It usually does more shaking of the wood I'm trying to cut than cutting. I hate the thing. I grabbed some cedar decking and ripped it to the width I needed to fill in the gaps using the table saw in the shop but I forgot to measure how long I needed the strips. I grabbed a hand saw and then before I got out of the garage remembered I had this cordless reciprocating saw in the basement. I was already taking the Craftsman 19.2 C3 Impact Driver with me so I already had the battery I needed. Why not? Let's see if this saw is better than my old corded one.

Yes, this saw works great. I like the variable speed. It will go slower than any other reciprocating saw I have used. It's quiet ... much quieter than my old corded version. I like the weight and balance. Even with the triple capacity lithium battery attached the saw was well balanced and could easily be used with one hand. And most of all it's powerful. After I finished my deck I used it around the property to prune a bunch of limbs off of trees in the back yard. It always had enough power to handle my 10 inch pruning blade!
In summary: I like this saw a lot more than the 11574 C3 cordless saw that comes in the 19.2 volt combo kits. When your 11574 quits (and it has a history of not lasting too long) I highly recommend that you replace it with this saw.
I like it a lot more than my old corded reciprocating saw. I particularly like the smooth variable speed and the ergonomic grip. It is powerful enough to do all the tasks I need it to and lightweight enough that I can use it all day.
I highly recommend this saw. I know I will buy one of these for myself soon. I will use this saw a lot more than my old corded version.
Need To Know: 19.2 v C3 Reciprocating Saw. This is an add-on to the C3 line. It does not come with a battery and charger. Sears assumes you already have a 19.2 volt drill or another tool that came with a battery. If you don't have any of these 19.2 volt tools and want this tool I suggest you purchase the 19.2 v C3 High Capacity Lithium Battery and 19.2 v C3 4 Port Charger. There is a cheaper way to get a battery and charger for this saw but once you own it, I know you will quickly add on more C3 tools. In the long run buying the triple capacity battery and 4 port charger now will save you money later on.

Great for pruning fruit trees, and clearing horse trails from horseback. Great balance, light weight, quiet, long lasting for a battery tool, SWEEET SAW !

Got this tool on clearance at the outlet store and I was pleasantly surprised at how effortless it performed with a new lithium ion battery.

I got a B-Day coupon from Sears and had some rewards points to spend, so I purchased the Craftsman C3 Reciprocating Saw & got home and put it straight to work. I already had my high capacity lithium-ion battery charged and snapped it in and installed the blade and went to cutting down several large thorn bushes. The installation of the blade was a snap and I love the twist and install and your done in about a second. Extremely easy to switch out blades. The saw had a nice weight to it and as advertised this saw is very easy to operate using only one hand. This is awesome doing outdoors work. The saw has a nice balance as well. This saw has plenty of power to cut through materials and never bogged down on me. I even cut some bad pickets out and some dead tree brnaches. I switched over to a metal blade and cut up my son's old tore up punching bag, base, and pole with this saw and instead of a large bulky item to toss in the garbage, it was now several small pieces and made it easy to dispose of. I have used this saw two days straight and worked it pretty hard and it kept up with me with no problems. The safety switch is quite easy to operate using the same hand as you use on the trigger. The saw comes with 2-blades, but does not have a battery or charger and is clearly labled on the package. The saw comes with a 1 year warranty. This is a new purchase and I have used it quite abit already and have been impressed so far. I have a upcomming remodel on the horizon and have more work for this saw. I have gotten to put my new recip saw to work on several items now and even more impressed than I was before. This little saw is a monster and does very well with my high capacity lithium ion batteries. I finished cutting my thorn bushes up, trimmed some dead branches from some trees, repaired a broken section of my picket fence, done some deck work with it, used it to rough cut some 2x6s on my yard table and it has worked like a champ.. No complaints on this saw at all. I am very glad that I chose the Generation 2 recip over the Generation 1 recip. I am giving this saw 5-stars and would definantly refer this to my family and buddies. Very nice and well contructed recip saw and the batteries I used, provided pretty good working time. The one thing I would add at this point would be a carrying pouch to store and carry the saw, a couple of blades, and enough room to carry a battery.

Not only would I recommend this saw, I have and they each bought one. I have an older cordless recip saw but this is much easier to with one hand. I use it with a pruning blade and use it all the time when pruning when I don't need or want to hassle with a chainsaw and it is too big or awkward for loppers. I was kind of "stuck" with this one as I have several other 19.2 craftsmen tools. Still angry that Sears started this line and then went to a 20 volt lithium line and then back to this line with lithium. I have yet to pony up for lithium batteries but they would be much better and I recommended them to friends who are not already saddled with NiMetal Halide batteries

This item comes with no battery and the battery and charger are an extra $80. NOT A GOOD DEAL!

the saw is very versatile easy for a left or right handed person to use the chuck is very quick for blade changes the only fault i see there no way to carry an extra blade and cutting thru heavy thick material will draw the battery down fairly quickly

This saw is an awsome saw. It is easy to operate, the battery lasts a super long time, the saw is light weight, well balanced and can fit into places where ost saws could not. I found no materials that I couldn't cut through with this saw, and what the best part about this saw is that this saw does not give a lot of vibration when sawing through really hard materials. With all of the different materials that this saw has cut through in the time that I have had it this is a real work horse. I would recommend this saw to anyone who needs a good "saws all" type tool.
