Decent overall, but somewhat annoying
This is a decent little bench grinder overall. There a few small things I don't like about it though: 1. The small plastic tray on the front should be mounted with a screw or something, it constantly rattles while using the grinder. That gets old after a little while. 2. I have this mounted on the craftsman stand and all it does is walk around the garage floor all the time. You need to bolt this down to the floor if you want to really do anything with it. I used the grinding wheel and the wire wheel extensively and both worked great. I now have a buffing wheel mounted on and that works great as well. Not as much room as a dedicated buffing wheel but it works great for occasional jobs and the hobbyist. Bottom line is I say go for it, just be prepared for a vibrating dish and stand if you mount it to one.

bench grinder
it is ok for home hobby use but under powered for any bigger work also when I put it together the mounts for the dust shields had to be modified to fit correctly

Average Light Duty 6" Bench Grinder

This was an insurance replacement for an older Craftsman 6" bench grinder that was damaged from facility water issue. The on/off switch is much lighter duty than the older model and will likely cause problems in the future -- but my impression of this may be wrong. This grinder did not come with a stone dresser, so I had to steal the one from the older one. Seems to run smooth out of the box and will work for most light duty grinding. I am going to say that I would not recommend this to a friend because there are less expensive bench grinders out there that are very comparable, but overall it is very usable.

Good buy for the price

Purchased this bench grinder on sale over the holidays for less than $50. Definitely not on the high end but works well for my limited grinder use. Lamp is a nice touch.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent and economical grinder

The motor startup took some time to stabilize. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. Great for doing small projects but I'm sure it can perform more serious jobs

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great product

We are super excited to have this product. We've had no issues with it at all. It does an excellent job sharpening lawn mower blades and the attached light helps out a lot because out garage is so dimly lit.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Had one for 20 years

I use mine to sharpen lawn mower blades, shovel tips and other tools. The size is small enough to move it around but big and strong enough to do everything I have needed it to do. It is a very smooth running motor. It will certainly out-live me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Bench Grinder

Perfect for do-it-yourselfers and small garages. Plenty of power and does a great job! Only thing that could make this any better is if it came with a wire wheel for one of the sides.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

good grinder, smooth, wheels suck and wear out really quick, get good wheels and it would be fine.

Good purchase

This is what I was looking for. The grinder is exactly as I hoped it would be. Used it a few times so far and has the power that was needed for the job. Didn't try the light yet.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

More than expected for $45

Debated between this or the dewalt for $100, decided on this because I don't often need a grinder. I bought this to grind down and shape 2 M10 bolts to make camshaft locking pins. I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised, it did not bog down at all, and shaped the bolts very well. I question ever needing any more power for my needs. Its very balanced and does not vibrate or move even when unmounted. The negatives: Takes 7-8sec to come up to speed, the base is not solid, its a cheap hollow piece of metal with a plastic bottom, only a 1yr warranty (even the cheapest ********** and ***** grinders have 3yrs), the build quality isn't very good, when installing the guards and pieces I had to bend them while adjusting the screws to get them strait, still aren't perfect. All this being said, $45 is the cheapest new grinder you can find and if you are like me and won't need it much, it does the job. Also the craftsman stock wheels are better quality than the big box store grinders (skil, ryobi)
