I bought this to replace an older miter saw. This has the advantage of being able to cut relatively wide boards. I found the saw to be pretty accurate and straight cutting right out of the box. I was pleased with the quality of the 60 tooth carbide blade and the smoothness of the cut. I read feedback from people saying that the saw did not eject sawdust very well into the sawdust bag. If you remove the bag and look into the sawdust outlet port on top (with the power off, of course) I saw that the casting of the blade guard in that area internal to the saw where the sawdust has to pass had metal ribs that stuck out into the discharge area and significant amounts of waste metal flashing from the casting process. I assume the protruding ribs inside the sawdust discharge port are some sort of safety arrangement. You can knock out the excess flashing with a screwdriver. Clearing the sawdust discharge path greatly improves the ability of the dust collection to work without clogging.

A clean and simple design that's worked exceptionally well on the few test cuts I've done so far. Needed hardly any setup and cut square and true right out of the box. And the laser was on the money. The sawdust collector, as others have noted, is virtually worthless. And you have to move the fence forward when cutting a rabbet. But, for the money, this is a great tool and worthy of the Craftsman name. Will be getting a workout soon as I help replace a friend's deck railings. If it lets me down, we'll let you know.

This is a very good product for the amount of money but I cannot get this saw to cut square. The problem is with the blade, it cuts okay once if the board is within 3 inches. Anything wider, one end is way off. I try replacing the blade and now looking to see if I can adjust the fence.

I bought the saw. On one side you get a square cut. From the other side, would not saw square cut. Fence molded crooked. Took saw back to Sears and they were nice to get me another one. Same problem with the other new saw. I had to attach shimmed boards to the fence and I finally got the saw to saw a square cut from both sides. This was a lot of trouble and time to spend on a new saw. I guess the saw would be OK for rough cuts where squareness was not an issue. Not recommended for a woodworking shop.
