This 12 Amp Router Delivers Powerful Performance
Equipped with a 2.5 horsepower motor, smooth ball bearing rotation and a variable speed control that revs from 10,000 to 25,000 RPMs lightning fast, this digital router delivers the torque you need to rip through plastics, veneer, hardwoods and softwoods. Designed to stay in control, it’s equipped with Soft Start technology, that gradually brings the bit up to speed, cutting down on take off, while the micro height adjustment allows you to control cutting position in 1/64 inch increments. A solid machine that combines the maneuverability of aluminum with the strength of steel and accuracy of digital controls, add this 12 amp router to your tool kit, and get the job done right with Craftsman.

I just got my router and was dimayed to see it is only 2hp not 2.25hp as advertised. That .25hp makes a big difference in what I do with the router. I'm going to give it a go anyhow because the job won't wait.

It sat for about a month until last weekend. Yesterday I mounted it to a table and a new hardboard plate. I noticed that the hole created by my flush trim bit was oblong?strange. I thought it was strange when I was raising the unit using the through table adjustment and it would hop every 1/4 inch or so. So, i went underneath and measured both sides at the handles to the table. There was that 1/4 inch! The dang thing was tipped to one side under the table. I took the router out of the table and put it right side up on the the table top. I grabbed the handles and tried to wobble the unit and sure enough there was an audible click in the guides. I immediately took it back. I only bought it a month ago AND I bought the protection. Before I did a straight swap I checked out the display units and 4/5 of the display units had observable slop in the bases. As this router was going to be almost exclusively undermounted I said screw it and grabbed a fixed base unit.

I have a 1/4" Ryobi router and table and needed a 1/2" router, I have fallen out of favor with Ryobi tools and have gone back to Craftsman. This router is excellent and powerful cuts through hardwood with a sharp bit. LED lighting is nice as well as the digital programming. Easy to use.

I needed a plunge router and this fit the bill. I can now leave my fixed base router on the table. Easy to adjust, soft start is great and variable speed gives great versatility.

The router works really well. The gradual start speed is great. This router replaces an older router I had and all the new features are a welcome addition! I'm having a difficult time finding a router table that fits it though. I bought craftsman table 28140 but it doesn't fit, and doesn't list the router as compatible. Anyone know which table is compatible?

Replaced an older router with this model. Would have preferred both plunge and fixed base but this is the model that was available. Speed control is nice, and so is the soft start. The only negative I have found so far is the packaging which was minimal with many free parts roaming loose in the box.
