Too Wimpy For Use Outside The Home
The pass- through design is pretty cool, but the 9/16 socket split its sides on a rusted bolt (but c'mon, its just a 3/8 soft bolt - shoulda twisted the bolt off first). Luckily, I had an old, cheapo, standard socket set on hand to finish the job. The max axess sockets are all pretty thin-sided. Don't expect them to hold up to serious work. They'd be fine to put the wife's knick knacks together, but just to be safe, let her do the wrenching. ;) Also noticed that the forward/reverse lever could go beyond the detent position, so you'd have to mess around with it and get it in the right place in order for the ratchet to work. One other thing, if you're working in greasy, oily or wet conditions, it can be somewhat difficult to pull the sockets out of the extension - not much to grip compared to standard socket sets. In short, if Craftsman will beef the design up, it has potential, but till then I'm disappointed. I expect more from Craftsman.

      Great tool.

This is better than a regular sockets. I liked my 1/4 inch set so much, I bought the 3/8 inch set.

      Super Handy!

This new socket set is super handy. It has a nice selection of sockets and the Max Axess feature makes it so you can do oh so much more than with a standard ratchet. I should have bought a set sooner!

      Growing UP

For 40 years I have considered myself a DIY-er. One would often be able to judge the difficulty of the job by the number of bloody fingers it took to complete. Growing older and wiser I have sought ways to reduce bloody knuckles. These sockets have proven themselves the first time out. But now how do I show my wife how hard I have been working?

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Cheap Made in China Products, Poor Quality Very Thin Wall Sockets, Avoid

I was so excited to drive to the Sears store for this item, but I ended up of being so disappointed when I open the box. Everything in the box was cheaply Made in China as indicated on the box label. The sockets were cheaply made with very thin walls. They can get cracked easily. No matter how many times you likely crack these sockets, you'll end up of wasting your time and trips heading to the Sears store for getting the same cheap china-made replacement sockets. They're just another crappy china-made sockets.

      Adapter needs revision

A great tool kit to include on your car emergency kit. I would score this higher if not for the pretty much useless adapter that needs to be redesigned.

      Solid Ratchet Set

Pretty good socket wrench set, the pass through feature is a handy alternative to deep sockets. I bought this to keep in my car emergency bag and should handle most road side repairs. The ratchet has a good solid feel to it and good ratcheting action. The sockets seem solid. The carry case is sturdy and looks like it will stand up to a lot of wear. The sockets lock in securely but were still easy to remove by pushing them through from the back side of the ratchet. There are a few negatives with the set. The forward/reverse selector can be a bit finicky, I had a few times where it did not lock in. I haven't used it enough to see if it will get better or worse with wear. While the case is good it could have been made a bit more compact. I needed a few smaller sockets than were in the set, fortunately with the included 3/8" square adapter I was able to fill out the set with some standard sockets. I don't think I would use this set (or the larger Max Axess sets) as my primary socket set but they are nice second set and alternative to deep sockets.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
