I was recently removing the water pump off of our classic Firebird when I noted a damaged bolt that my wrench just would not fit on. It looked like someone had taken a pair of locking pliers to it, you know what that looks like!
Anyways, I brought out this set which I bought for just this kind of incident and the bolt came right out without any fuss! Well worth the $15 price tag!
Just a note: I used one of my extractors for the 1st time a couple of days ago. It didn't take the bolt out and was ruined in the process. It seems the metal is quite soft. I've used other brands of these extractors before and haven't had any issues.
When I went to the store today I found that there is NO warranty on them at all. Buyer beware. I'm happy I didn't pay too much for them, but wouldn't have spent my money if I knew how poorly they would work.

Got this set on sale. Thought I might need them one day. Will my wife's car needed new trunk shocks. Being in a rush like I always am, I round one of the nuts. Wiped this set of and quickly found the right socket for the job. Few days late I went and picked up the other 5 sockets to complete the set which fit in the case this set comes with.

Great how the second set which I also purchased fits in the case. I also taped the size guides in there as well for quick reference in the future. It works well too. It helps if you have a mallet or hammer to gently tap it on first though.

The key to these sockets is to know how to use them. Find the one closest to the size of the damaged bolt head, and hammer it on! These sockets are hard steel, and won't grab unless they are hammered on well. I only wish I had more sizes and will probably go look for a larger set. I had a 3/8 damaged rusty bolt that I could not grab. I had to grind the edges a little to make it smaller, and then hammer on the next smaller socket to get the bolt out. Took me a couple hours to get one bolt out, but they worked.
