Great solder
Overall great solder for small electronics, got the job done. The tip was perfect for what I needed. Wished there was an on/off button thats about it.

Not for fine pitch
Good iron, does the job, but tip is large. Would be great if tips of other sizes were included.

Nice for small jobs

The Craftsman 30 watt solder iron is great for my little jobs that I need it for in my shop. I use it to repair wiring connections on riding mowers, lawn tractors, buggies, 4 wheelers, any anythng else that needs an end soildered on. It's not made for big jobs but definatley works for what I need it for. If I trash it out, I just go and buy another one as it is pretty cheap to buy. Heat time is decent and gets hot enough to make decent joints on standard wiring connections. I have repaired a few electronic items in the house, but over all, it gets its use in the shop on lawn power equipment. I would not recommend this for heavy work, but for the regular wiring connector type work it is an OK item to have in the tool box out in the shop or on your work bench.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Does the job

Ok this is a basic 30W iron that does the job, this iron makes a good back up unit for professional users and it works equally well as a primary unit for hobbyist and diy selfers. It has good balance and a 1 year warranty

The iron barrel material is nickel steel that will rust if not taken care for; avoid touching it and be sure to clean it up before storing wipe some dry lubricant such as LPS1. Also be sure to keep the tip tinned and clean from soldering fluxes.

GOOD VALUE TOOL 4 STARS

This Craftman solder iron works very well.

Ok guys here is the no bull on this iron.  It heats up to solder temper rather quick so be carefull, the tip is hot and ready to work in about a 1min 30seconds. It keeps  steady heat very well, no waiting for a min every two min and if you have ever owned a cheap Iron you know what I mean.  I also  bought extra tips, including a very fine tip to use with the iron all of the same brand Craftman.  It works and does the job and the one year warranty aint to bad either.  It really is identical to the quality you will find in a Weller Solder Iron.  I own a Weller iron I use for stereo intallation and it is 7yrs old now,  I have no doubt this Craftman Solder Iron will last 7yrs if I take care of it ie clean it after use and put it up away from the kids.

Works for me.

I bought this to solder together some wiring harnesses for a car stereo install. I didn't time how long it took to heat up, but I don't remember it taking too long. I plugged it in to a soldering station (which I already had) and turned the power up to 100%. By the time I got everything together and made sure I knew what I was doing (which only took a minute or two), it was ready to go. Perfect for small jobs like this. I also have some circuit board work on an old bigscreen TV to do next, once I get up the courage (I have never done anything like that before and the board is no longer available). I gave five stars because it did what I bought it for (a small, single project), and I have no reason to believe it will not work when I call on it again.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

nice

My soldering iron worked perfect for wiring a car stereo and I have plenty of jobs to do next. The iron heats up in a few minutes and by that time I'm ready to solder away.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Cold

The first time I used this iron it took about 10 minutes to get hot enough to melt solder. Go for a higher wattage.
