Excellent for sharpening turning tools

This was a replacement grinding wheel for the one that came on my grinder. Granted it had not been used much but it was a real chore sharpening my tools. This new wheel was on sale so I decided it could not be much worse than what I currently had on my grinder. After a quick swap out, I dressed the wheel and prepared to sharpen my turning tools. I was only going to work on one or two but after discovering how much easier it was with this wheel, I ended up sharpening the entire set. After finishing, I inspected the wheel and it look as if it I had not even used it. I strongly recommended this very affordable and quality tool. Craftsman hits another homerun.

The Wheel Will Smooth the Marks left by the Coarser Stones...

Lately I have been restoring some antique tools that I had collected years ago and forgot about.  I rediscovered them one day while cleaning the attic of my shop out.  It was like Christmas morning all over again finding a forgot bow (actually two) of vintage tools.

I set out to bring these tools back to the original glory.  I know that tool collectors advise against cleaning old tools - but hey there mine and I want them as display pieces for my woodworking shop.

Currently, I am reworking an old (perhaps very old) single bladed axe.  The blade is badly pitted and if I have any chance of making this look new again, I'll need to grind that pitting away.  This is a process that involves using multiple wheels.  Depending on the depth of the pits I may need to start with a 36 grit Coarse Wheel, then I'll use my 60 grit wheel.  Finally I finish the grinder process by working this 100 grit Wheel over the blade before I move on to the wire brush sequence.

Take a look at the Axe I'm working on now!

Good finishing grit

I just received this wheel for a x-mas gift. The wheel is too fine and too soft in my personal opinion to do any serious grinding on a hardened material because it would take way too long and it will also shorten the life of the wheel itself. Once you get the bulk of the metal material removed with a saw or a more course grinding wheel then this one puts a smoother finished end on your project.

Works well for general shop needs

This is a good general purpose grit. Does a nice job sharpening chisels, knives and touching up drill bit tips.

Great for tool sharpening

I personally like using this particular grit for sharpening tools and even lawn mower blades.  I've had great success with this type of grinding wheel because I do like the fact that it seems to me that there aren't as much debris flying around as you sharpen your tools.  Also, with this particular grit, you have a certain amount of latitude when it comes to making mistakes such as holding an edge too long against the wheel.  This wheel doesn't chew through as much compared to other wheels.  This is my grinding wheel of choice for upkeep on tools and lawnmower blades.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
