Great Mower
I'll be honest, I bought this for a piece of property that was too big, hilly and rocky for this mower. However, if you have a lot of lawn and not just a raw piece of acreage, this is the mower for you. You can't go wrong with the B&S, but some people seem to think they need the Honda...go figure.

A good mower for a big, level yard
This is a very good mower, if you have the right yard. First, the high points. It was extremely easy to set up. It started on the first pull. It is well made. The engine is very powerful; actually, a little too powerful. If you fully engage the drive lever, you almost have to run to keep up with the mower. It is a great aerobic exercise workout. I tell people that I aerobic mow the grass. I like having 2 drive levers. This helps to hold with alternating hands when mowing large areas. The mower has great ?suck?. It does a job of picking up the grass clippings as well as leaves while mowing. It even picked leaves and many of the acorns up from a concrete drive way. The side discharge is great. It throws the grass clippings away from the mower with a lot of force. I really like the window in the bag. You can easily tell when it is full. The bag door locks up and out of the way when removing the bag. It then releases when you grab the engine kill lever to restart the mower. That is very handy. Now, why I gave it 3 stars which is an average rating. I believe that this would be a 5 star mower if it did not have the single lever wheel height adjustment system. The rear wheels are set about an inch wider on each side than the front wheels and the mower deck. This limits the ability to easily mow close to objects such as fences or home slabs. In addition to this, a rod that is a part of the height adjustment system that connects the 2 rear wheels passes under the rear deck. If you set the deck level in the 1 thru 3 positions, this rod sets lower than the bottom of the deck. The 3 setting seems to equate to a 2? cutting height. This rod then hangs on the grass any place that the lawn is uneven. It is very annoying to be mowing along and then getting hung up. This is less of a problem if you set the position at 4 or higher. I have San Augustine grass which could exaggerate the problem. It is a thick grass with large runners that are above ground. I have used the mower quite a bit in the last month since I bought it online. I have really tried to give it a fair opportunity to perform. But, given the fact that my lawns are small and have trees, flower beds and lots of obstructions, I would not get this particular mower again. However, I would seriously consider a similar mower with individual wheel height adjusters.

My Second one

I live in a hilly and un level area. This Lawn Mower is my second. It that's a beating and keeps on going! It is very dependable and I treat it good! Every year I get a tune up and sharpen the blade. It easy easy for a 65 year old woman to push since it has rear drive self propellant!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Superb mower

More then I expected. Starts every time on the first pull. Propel handle on both side makes it easy to mow next to my trees and bushes. So easy to use that my teens like to use it and don*t mind mowing.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Horrible at mulching grass, then died after 2 years

I was dissatisfied with this lawn mower from the start. I knew within 10 minutes that I didn't like it, but for some reason I didn't pack it up and return it. It did a terrible job at mulching grass clippings. The clippings bunch up in the bag chute and fall onto the ground in clumps. Once the chute fills up, the mower will leave a clump of grass about every 15 feet. Most lawn mowers, even most Craftsmen mowers have a plug for the bag chute that prevents grass from bunching up. I was extremely frustrated with this thing for over 2 years. And then, like on queue, as soon as the 2-year warrantee expired the Briggs-Stratton engine started running poorly. I had it into the shop numerous times and the shop was working with Brigg-Stratton directly to remedy the problem, but Briggs couldn't figure it out. When it got to the point where it wouldn?t cut anymore and Briggs had nothing left to suggest I purchased a Toro.

Overall
bad bag design

I bag my grass. With this bag system 50% of grass goes outside as bag bounces the flap opens and it flies out. Also bag says dust blocker on it, I get more dust out of this new one then I did with my old one that had two holes. Rear wheels are wider than front so have to get used to watching back wheels more than front. Starts like a dream thou.

Overall
Good Mower !

I had an $800 Honda mower before this one with shaft drive and a 3 speed transmission. It is pretty hard for any other mower to meet the durability and performance of a top of the line Honda mower. While this Craftsman mower is not the tank that the Honda was I am satisfied with the performance of this mower. First of all this Craftsman is the only self propelled mower I have ever used besides a Honda that is fast enough for me while mowing. When I mow I want to be able to walk as fast as I can with out any resistance from the drive system slowing me down. With this Craftsman that is not a problem at all it is a very fast moving mower and that is my number one priority with a self propelled mower because I want to get finished as soon as possible with mowing. Next I really feel like the new 190cc Briggs and stratton engine has a good amount of torque and power very close to that of the Honda. The one lever height adjustment is an awesome feature that I really like along with the hose connection to clean the deck underneath. Lastly, this is just one beautiful machine and one worth keeping clean and nice looking. Overall, I think this mower will serve a homeowner well especially one that likes to make short work of mowing their lawn !

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Terrible mower.

This mower has a smaller bag than the Toro I have had for 17 years. Plus it won't fill if the grass is tall. Probably ok for mowing golf course greens. Or if you mow frequently. The grass bunches up at the front of the bag and won't fill the back almost ever. Also, the narrow front wheels with wider back wheel spacing makes mowing along fences difficult. The last problem with the mower is the rear drive wheels spin at almost every uneven spot in the yard, unless mowing at 4+ height settings. This is a terrible mower.
