Impressed
I wasn't a huge fan of the Briggs and Straton motor, but decided to give them another chance. I got the lawn mower home, took it out of the box (it's 90% assembled already) so all you have to do is put oil and gas in it. It was easy to assemble and could be done by anyone. This model doesn't have a choke or a primer bulb to mess with. It starts just by pulling the cord. On the FIRST pull it started and ran very smoothly. I've never had a lawnmower start on the first pull where I didn't have to prime/choke it. I was very impressed that Briggs and Straton has come a long way. The setup of the motor is well designed, it has an upgraded air filter, 190 cc's, and an automatic throttle control. This is 3 in 1 model. So you can mulch, bag, or side discharge your trimmings. The bag is very well built, but fills up quickly. It's easy to empty and is designed to keep dust down. The only 2 drawbacks are that the handles could be attached to the deck more sturdily (it's not a real issue, but I did notice it compared to my old one). Secondly the cutting path is 21 inches verses the standard 22 (again not a huge issue). Overall I'm very critical of lawn equipment and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great mower.

6.75 B&S Craftsman Lawn Mower Misses Way Too Much Grass

I am so frustrated with this mower. We bought a new home and the yard was fully sodded front and rear. The first couple of years the grass was thin and sparce and the mower was fine just mulching all the time. We hired True Green lawn care to handle the growth and weed treatments. When the grass started getting thick, I started noticing uncut grass all over the place evethough I overlap and change directions. I noticed everytime the engine would slow down even the slightest, there would be uncut grass. I was going crazy cutting my entire yard twice each time. I also noticed that the wheels were bending the grass over just enough with each pass that the mower would miss cutting those blades and they would rise back up as if to say HA HA you missed me. When you look at lawnmowers at the stores, the same 6.75 Torque 190cc engine is on many models that cost much more than this one, They even have self propelled features that rob power from the same engine used here. How is it possible that there are so many happy people with mowers with this same engine and are not missing blades even in high grass? The deck design is just as important as the engine. I switched to bagging and purchased the best mulching and bagging blade they sell for 20.00 and bagging helped the engine bogging somewhat but still missed grass when it gets thick. There is no way that 6.75 means that this pushmower has the same real world power of the 5HP lawn mower we had when I was a kid. That mower never bogged in thick grass and I never had to mow each area twice. The reason the same engine on this mower costs so much less than other mowers is because you get what you pay and perfomance takes a hit with a horrible deck design. Look at Honda mowers and you will see a high circular tunnel for the clippings to get cut many times and the vacuum effect is very strong which helps pull the blades up to be cut.

Great lawn mower

I was very impressed with this lawn mower.  I got it home, assembled it (easy), put fluids in it, gave it a half hearted pull and it started!  I was amazed, first half pull, first time ever, no prime, no nothing, and it started.  I was blown away.  I don't have a large yard, but it is descent sized.  It gets wet and stays wet, but this mower went through it no problem.  At time I wish I had the larger rear wheels, but for my purpose they would only be mildly useful.

The fuel efficiency of the mower is impressive.  I used to go through about 2 "tanks" of gas with my old Bolen mower.  This one makes more power and seems to use about half as much gas.

I did have one problem where the wheel height adjustment did not stay on the teeth.  I had to remove the wheel and bend the piece a little.  Now it is solid, but it was a little disheartening to have to do something like that to a brand new mower.

Not sure why people don't like this mower for a larger yard as currently it is being used to mow ~5 acres of yard at a business.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A great lawnmower

We recently purchased a new lawn mower- the lawn needed to be mowed badly.

I must say-I was extremely happy that the lawn mower started on the first pull. That was always the part that I hated most about lawn mowers. I quickly realized that our mower could mulch. That came in handy, because we also have flower beds. The bushel bag is definitely well designed and easy to empty. It glided fairly easily on our lawn. I got our lawn mowed quickly and it looked great.

I had a great experience with the Craftsman 38905- I'll recommend it to all of my friends

Great Mower and Fast start

This is a great mower, really like that the mower starts frast. I've been using it for 9 months and haven't had any problems with the mower. This is my second Craftsman mower, and the first one still works without a problem. So for me Craftsman does make some great mowers that last a long time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works nicely!

Great working mower and mulcher... bought it last spring and mow every week. Only used the bag around Fall time and mulched during the summer. Easy to move around and push. Starts great every time and has been reliable

Looking forward to using it when Spring gets here in the next couple weeks and the grass starts growing again!

Reliable

Easy to use

Good price

Im very Disappointed

I bought this mower last year and it ran great. The first time i went to start it this year it wont start the carbreuator is badly engineered. The door gets stuck and no air gets in it takes about 50 pulls to get running. The motor is weak it wont cut through grass taller than 8" tall. My rear wheel cracked the height adjuster in the back wheels slip they wont stay in place. Im sending this mower back tomorrow im so mad. i have to take the filter out every time to get enough air in to run. Easy start thats a joke. And a new filter did nothing.

4 stars

I just used this mower for the first time last night. Super easy to get up and running. Started easily with the first pull (nice grab handle). It seemed to have plenty of power, rolled smoothly, and cut well. But, the flap doors on the side/rear are J-U-N-K!!!! Grass flies out all over the place. It was even coming out by the front wheels. It may not be so bad if the yard/grass wasn't so dry. But, it is DEFINITELY a design FLAW! I am just going to cover the holes with something to keep the grass from coming out. I will never side discharge, or bag. So, I am not too worried about that. I just wanted their top push mower. And, I believe this will be a good one, once I take care of the poorly covered side/rear discharge openings. Not a reason to return. Just using common sense to remedy the issue.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Powerful mower

I really liked this mower. The look was good and the power was good. The bag was pretty small however and it seemed like every two rows of mowing, I was bagging. Maybe I just didn't know how to do it, but I had a hard time actually dumping the bag into a trash bag. I ended up just doing the mulching thing with no bag and it was great. They are NOT kidding about being able to gently pull the string to start. Easy-peasy!

I would recommend this product to a friend.
