After assembling it, added gas mixture and primed per instructions. After about 20 pulls it still wouldn't start, primed it again and after another 15 pulls it finally started. It ran rough but I was able to trim part of my lawn. The following day tried to start it and after about 20 pulls it still wouldn't start so I packed it up and returned. I figured it was just a bad unit so I exchanged it for another. Got the second one home and gassed it up and primed it and this one wouldn't start at all. Returned it and got a refund. I should have checked the ratings before I bought it 40 one star ratings doesn't say much for this product. Craftsman used to make reliable products but I wouldn't buy one again.
It's the same thing with all recent craftsman products, say 2000-present, it's made cheap by one of the bigger already cheap brands like MTD. I USED TO ONLY BUY CRAFTSMAN, BUT NO MORE, THEY ARE GARBAGE!!! Save yourself the time and frustration, yes it'll cost a little more but it'll last longer, and work better. I'm to the point I only buy commercial grade, AS A HOME OWNER, stihl saw, echo backpack blower and string trimmer with a brush cutter and edger attachment. Unfortunately I'm still stuck with a YT2000 that was out of commission for 8 weeks last spring/ summer. 4 weeks (electrical issue), 2 weeks (was burning drive belts, manufacturing defects in all YT2000 of 2.5 years ago) and again 2 weeks ( the replacement pedal kit so there is enough tension on the belt to make the **** thing drive). It'll prob die this year or next year, just out of warranty like everything else craftsman does. Then I'll be buying either a simplicity, cub cadet, or ********** (kinda leaning towards simplicity). Just so you know i did have this craftsman trimmer, actually, I had 4 craftsman trimmers in 6 years. First the pull cord will break, then the on/ off switch will go, then soon after the warranty is up the engine will die and your back to spending another 120-200 depending on which one you buy. My echo was 325 and has a 5yr warranty. Sorry for the rant, but craftsman just really pissed me off. Needless to say I will never be buying another craftsman product, atleast for outdoor power equipment. I think their hand tools are still well made. Rusty
It has been hard to start ever since I bought it. Then once you get it started it will not stay started. I think Sears's quality control standards have fallen and they need to work on getting air/gas mixture better.

This is the second Craftsman Weedwacker (with attachment capability) I have purchased. The first lasted 10 years, and it worked great. The fexibility of edging and trimming is great.

I have had seveal Craftsman and Weedeater brand weed wackers. I really really hate the reload string head on this one. You have to stop every 3 minutes to change it out. Plus, if you are weeding with gloves you have to flip the weed trimmer unside down, take off your gloves and change the line. Only to have to do it again in 3 minutes or less. I also got a lot of vibration with this weed trimmer. My hands were numb after about 20 minutes. I'm going to give it another try, but it is not looking good for this product and me!
after priming it it starts right up , the power was there for the using . I got this on sale but would pay full price if I need another one . Also I would buy extra sting it goes fast. easy handle adjusting is there also ,have not yet bought the attachment for trimming trees but just might when that time comes .

I believe fuel/air adjustments at the factory were made incorrectly and not tested under load. As a result the trimmer will not run to full load capacity. Sadly the trimmer was designed without the ability for the owner to adjust fuel/air mixtures so the trimmer gets a bad rap because it chokes down when cutting. It is a quality control issue.

I didn't believe the reviews, but I was wrong. It took me about 20 minutes to initially start the trimmer. Once it did start and was warmed up, it still bogged down anytime I got into some real weeds. I was able to get it to start the next day after only about 30 pulls. I don't think that ?Incredi-Pull? starting system is any good. It seemed like the engine only turned over once with each pull. It was a bad purchase and I returned it.
