The scraper bar is not thick enough gauge to last. If you don't break something else on this shovel (which would be covered by the Craftsman guarantee) then you will wear out the bar which is not covered. That is planned obsolence on Sears' part. Also, the older Craftsman snow shovel (coated aluminum scoop, galvanized blade, D-handle, fibre handle) is no longer sold so they got me on that one. Can't replace it however it happens to break - clever work Sears. My much much older non-Craftsman, non Sears (coated aluminum scoop, thick gauge blade, long wood handle with out D-handle) is not as easy to use (no D-handle) but it is still going strong. My Craftsman is absolutely unusable as of this year. Maybe I can find a machine shop to rebuild my Craftsman the way it should have been built in the first place.
By the way, I am a card carrying Sears Best customer and I am getting fed up with some of the expensive name brand junk I have purchased at Sears in the last couple of years.
Do NOT buy appliances at Sears - you can't get a worthwhile extended warranty which is needed due to the way appliances are built these days. Buy your appliances from a local appliance store which has their own factory authorized service. Another words, when you pay for a warranty, make sure it will be honored by the Maytag man not some clown hired by Sears with an offshore service call scheduling phone line.

I love the shovel. Seemed to do the job. Not too sure about the metal edging on the bottom. We have to re-evaluate in two more years.

Living in upstate N.Y. I destroy 1 or 2 snow shovels every season. So far this one is holding up well.Time will tell.

Slightly heavy, but very heavy-duty. Great scraping bar and scoop capacity. And guaranteed for life!

purchased yesterday and had a 6 inch snowfall today, mostly light fluffy snow and these worked pretty well. I'm concerned the plastic/metal combination may not hold up but hoping to get at least a few years out of this shovel.

Great shovel..even though I only had to use it once. It is lightweight, very strong and ergonomic. I bought this shovel because I only want to buy something once and this shovel had all the attributes you would want. Add to that a lifetime guarantee and you got it all. I am very happy with this shovel and I think anyone would feel the same.

I was hoping for no snow at all. But sooner or later it is bound to come. I wanted something light, strong and able to stand up from the abuse I usually give my shovel. Now, I have found it. I am actually looking forward to waking up tomorrow and using it for the first time of many. When you have the right tool, any job seems pleasurable. Add to that, the lifetime warranty and a name you can trust and I am sold. I am sure you will feel the same way!! Susan

The Craftsman 20" Combo shovel glides through snow like a knife through butter. I like the metal blade as opposed to similar snow shovels with a polycarbonate blade. It aids in cutting though packed snow and ice. Once it's full, it's lightweight to lift, even with heavy snow. The shovel itself is made of a rugged polycarbonate material that helps it last longer and be stronger. The handle is fiberglass, so you won't have to worry about it breaking, and it sports and cusioned grip to make your snow clearing more productive and easier to accomplish. The rubberized handle on top helps you get a good grip on the hangle when lifting and pushing too. Best of all, it's covered by Craftsman's lifetime warranty! If you need to clear snow and are looking for a shovel that will outlast the competition, this is the one for you.
