I was recently removing the water pump off of our classic Firebird when I noted a damaged bolt that my wrench just would not fit on. It looked like someone had taken a pair of locking pliers to it, you know what that looks like!
Anyways, I brought out this set which I bought for just this kind of incident and the bolt came right out without any fuss! Well worth the $15 price tag!
Just a note: I used one of my extractors for the 1st time a couple of days ago. It didn't take the bolt out and was ruined in the process. It seems the metal is quite soft. I've used other brands of these extractors before and haven't had any issues.
When I went to the store today I found that there is NO warranty on them at all. Buyer beware. I'm happy I didn't pay too much for them, but wouldn't have spent my money if I knew how poorly they would work.
These are mighty little helpers to have around! They'll get you out of some serious "binds!" May not work with those hi-torque bolts that have frozen into their threads over many years, but some patience and a week's worth of sonic tapping with thread penetrants might help prior to attempting. No warranty because if you read others posts, people misuse such devices. Beating one on with a hammer, for instance, defeats it helical design.
Used this to remove a rusty, rounded off nut from a 15-yr old truck's front end. Worked fine, and it saved the inconvenience of having to cut off and replace the entire part. Being able to turn the removers with either a square drive anvil (ratchet) or externally with a wrench is a nice feature.
I had two stripped bleeder valves on my brake calipers. A little pb blast and one of these took them off in seconds! no need for the torch, They are tapered so they adapt to the stripped bolt and have reverse grooves that dig in and twist the bolt out. For the price, just get them..

This is a great kit, and it has extra slots so you can buy the bigger bolt-outs and include them all together in a small package about the size of a drill bit case. I have only used one so far but it worked perfectly and this is one of those kits everyone should have around so when something becomes horribly stripped then work doesn't shut down completely until you find a solution.

The craftsman damaged bolt/nut remover set works very well and has plenty of "grip" on stripped bolt heads. It works just as good on broken bolts. Make sure you do not over hammer them into place, or you will have a very difficult time separating the remover from the bolt. I highly recommend this tool to anyone who works on old/classic cars.
Great for getting those rounded off nuts/bolts without cutting anything or torches. The key is to take it slow and steady and if it's not welded on with rust, this will take it off.
This tool came in real handy for restoring a64 mustang this tool took all the rusty bolts out with ease with out alot of chemicals and no effort and with the sears name it good for life
